Clay

No Glaze, No Problem

Explore how to create surface design without the use of glazes

This class will explore how to create a surface design without using glazes. Learn to color clay with mason stains and explore design possibilities using contrasting colored clay bodies. The slab roller will be used to create organic designs in the clay, and the wheel will be utilized to create different marbling effects. You will also explore nerikomi (stacking colored clay) techniques and decorating with clay slips. This class will have an emphasis on experimentation! Pick your favorite method(s) and run with it during the class duration. Let’s have fun exploring the possibilities of clay!
