Canvas and Leather Tote Bag [Workshop]
Perfect for trips to the market, this beautiful, two-toned tote is as useful as it is stylish. The workshop will cover sewing and fabrication, patternmaking/design, and tooling for the construction of a 14” x 14” x 6” [approximate size] tote with lush leather handles, canvas and leather body, and accent hardware. Each student will be provided with one leather shoulder, a piece of canvas, and a basic pattern to guide you in the design of your custom tote bag. You will learn to cut out your base leather pieces, finish the raw edges, sew them together using the Center’s heavy-duty sewing machines, and add the hardware. If you prefer a leather bottom and canvas top, that level of customization is possible. You will also have access to leather stamps to customize your bag and will learn to treat it with either an oil protectant or a color dye. A basic knowledge of sewing is helpful but not required.
