ADVANCED SILKSCREEN

Instructor: Dominick Rapone

Intro to ScreenprintingThis class is open to students who have prior experience in silkscreen or screen printing and wish to further their knowledge. You will produce two to three prints by the end of the class. Reinforce your skills by setting up individual projects and working through complicated color registration and layers. Learn about the process and history of silkscreen printing both as an expressive and as a graphic art form. Hand-drawn, photographic, photocopied, and digital color separation techniques will be explored. The class will focus on individual projects that students are interested in. Use water based inks to print on various materials such as paper, fabric, glass, metal, and wood to explore making individual prints as well as editions. You will be encouraged to explore other materials to print on and “inks” to print with such as chocolate, mustard, graphite powder, etc. Supplies included.

BEGINNER’S WATERCOLOR [Workshop]

Instructor: Laura Azzi

For beginners only. Students will be taught the basics, from brush strokes to color mixing to applying water media paint. Color theory and composition will also be covered. Come and express your creative self through watercolor for relaxation and enjoyment. Students are responsible for providing some of their own supplies and will receive a supply list two weeks prior to class. [Expect to pay $20 – $35 for supplies at a local art supply store.]

LEATHER JOURNALS [Workshop]

Leather JournalsHemingway was never without his. Frida Kahlo’s are widely reproduced. Make your very own leather journal and learn to do leather sewing, dyeing, and stamping to personalize to your taste. Using a premium 6” x 8” x 0.5” journal with acid-free, archival paper you will create a leather cover that is reusable for many journals in the future! Your legacy…secured!  Supplies included.

NC FARM LANDSCAPE IN WATERCOLOR [Workshop]

No experience necessary. Enjoy painting a simple farm landscape in watercolor. Use the creative process of the watercolor medium to create a bucolic landscape through textures and techniques. Students are responsible for providing some of their own supplies and will receive a supply list two weeks prior to class. [Expect to pay $20 – $35 for supplies at a local art supply store.]

PAINTING MAGNOLIAS IN WATERCOLOR [Workshop]

Instructor: Laura Azzi

No experience necessary. Learn the basics of watercolor as you paint the gentle flower of the magnolia surrounded by its large, oval leaves. Create this painting with the blending of transparent watercolors while layering washes and adding glazes to produce rich colors. Students are responsible for providing some of their own supplies and will receive a supply list two weeks prior to class. [Expect to pay $20 – $35 for supplies at a local art supply store.]

SILKSCREENING WITH STENCILS

Instructor: Dominick Rapone

Intro to ScreenprintingExplore basic silkscreen techniques using cut stencils to print through. This class is open to all levels. We will explore using simple tools and techniques to print works of art at home. Using paper, we will cut stencils out and affix them to the screens to print through as opposed to using photo emulsions.
