Take a BREAK from workday stress to MAKE something creative and fun at The Crafts Center this semester! Register for one or more sessions!

Class fee: $25 per session, all supplies included 

Registration for these classes begins on November 28 at 9:00am   

Session A – Intuitive Fabric Compositions: Looking for a way to recharge, destress, and why not? Discover a new approach? This class is for you! Learn techniques for free styling with stitches on fabric. I will share with you an intuitive way to start a textile art piece from scratch. How I combine fabrics, colors, textures, and specific stitches. How I go about developing a composition and letting serendipity lead the way.

Session B – Enameled Copper Pendant: Come ‘play’ with fire while learning to apply powdered glass to metal. In this short session, get a quick, hands-on lesson in basic hot enameling.

Intro to Lampworking

Session C – Hot Glass Beads: Play with fire! Learn to use the lampwork torches to make colorful glass beads.

Session DTurned Wood Pen: Come learn how to use a wood lathe and turn your very own custom wooden twist pen! Start with a block of beautiful hardwood and learn how to shape, sand, finish and assemble a one-of-a-kind handmade twist pen!

Session E – Turned Bottle Stopper: Come learn how to use a wood lathe and turn your very own custom wooden bottle stopper.

Session F – Watercolor Tulips: Learn fun watercolor techniques while painting colorful spring tulips.

Session G – Turned Ice Cream Scoop: Come learn how to use a wood lathe and turn your very own custom wooden ice cream scoop for all the Howling Cow you’ll be enjoying!!

Session I – Turned Bottle Opener: Come learn how to use a wood lathe and turn your very own custom wooden bottle opener. It’s good for gifts and a great addition to your kitchen ware.

Session J – Pottery Wheel: Try your hands at the potter’s wheel while making a clay bowl or cup during this fun crafternoon activity! Pick you favorite piece to be glazed and finished in the Crafts Center’s gas kiln!

Session K – Beaded Earrings: Each participant will have the opportunity to make at least one pair of simple bead earrings. The class will teach the basics of all beaded earrings so you can take your new earrings and your new knowledge home with you. All materials will be provided.   Thursday, 11:30am – 1:30pm,  April 6

Session L – Cell Phone Stand: Make a wooden cell phone stand for your desk or nightstand

Session M – Turned Acorn: An Oak City Special! Come learn to turn a wood acorn for decorating your office or home

Cancellations

Most of our classes fill quickly so there is often a wait list. Late notice cancellations require considerable processing and labor to try and fill the reserved seat. Therefore, cancellations under 10 days are not able to be refunded unless we can fill the space.
• If cancellation occurs 10 or more days prior to the start of a class, a processing charge of 25% of the registration payment or $25 (whichever is less) will be assessed and the remainder refunded.
• If cancellation occurs less than 10 days prior to the start of a class, a refund cannot be issued unless the space can be filled. If the space is able to be filled, a 50% refund of  payment will be issued.
If you find you need to cancel out of a class you have registered for, you must drop the class via Reporter», our new online registration system

Cancellation requests will not be accepted at the main desk or via phone or email.

Absences

To receive an optimal experience and get the most out of the class, attendance is important as there are no provisions for make-up sessions for missed classes.

Wait Lists

Names are accepted on waiting lists via Reporter» after a class is full until the day the class begins.  Wait lists are only valid for the current semester’s class – wait lists are not carried over to the next semester.
