Treat yourself to a little self-care! This workshop will teach you how to make lotion, skin scrub, and lip balm to enjoy or give away as gifts! Most supplies included, students are responsible for providing their own essential oils and some other items readily available in grocery stores. Class fee includes a supply kit. The Crafts Center will send instructions on when and where to pick up your kit (local pickup only).

HOUSEPLANT CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Instructor: Dimitri Malheiros [NC State student]
Embark on a journey where we will learn how to turn that green thumb greener!
The instructor, Dimitri Malheiros, is a graduate student here at NC State… although he is not a botanist by trade, he is happy and eager to share all that he knows about houseplants, which he has learned over the years. With a focus on houseplants, we will go through all aspects of keeping your houseplants healthy and happy. Keeping houseplants is a great way to de-stress and bring nature into your home. This class will put emphasis on plants like philodendrons, monsteras, peperomias, and begonias; common and rare/uncommon alike. In this class, we will learn basic plant keeping techniques like proper substrate composition, propagation, pest control, and many other aspects of the hobby.
This class is for all levels of houseplant aficionados! Come join us and let’s plant!

IN TUNE WITH MUSIC THEORY [Workshop]

Are you interested in learning how music works but don’t know where to begin? Take this multifaceted introductory music theory course to build a foundation to better understand the music you hear every day! No prior knowledge or experience required; no instruments or other musical equipment required. Just bring yourself to the online class! Each session will focus on a different element of music theory.

MELT AND POUR CANDLES
Instructor: Angel Cruz
Learn to make candles in this easy, interactive workshop that is open to all skill levels! Breath life into your old, burnt out jar candles or pick up a bag of fresh wax for more control over the color and scent of your candles.
Students are responsible for providing thier own supplies. Supplies can be found at local crafts stores or online.
What you will need:
– jars or containers for your candles (glass, pottery/ceramic – jars, bowls, or even cups/mugs – mason jars work well). For the soy & beeswax candle. You will need one 12 oz. container or a mix of smaller containers that total 12 oz.
– a double boiler (if you don’t have a double boiler, you can make a substitute one from a small pot or saucepan and a heat-safe metal or glass bow that is slightly larger than the sauce pan.
– old candles to recycle
– 75% soy wax ( ~9 ounces)
– 25% beeswax (~3 ounces)
– waxed and wired wicks with tabs

Cancellations
Most of our classes fill quickly so there is often a wait list. Late notice cancellations require considerable processing and labor to try and fill the reserved seat. Therefore, cancellations under 10 days are not able to be refunded unless we can fill the space.
• If cancellation occurs 10 or more days prior to the start of a class, a 75% refund of payment will be issued; 25% of payment is assessed for processing charge.
• If cancellation occurs less than 10 days prior to the start of a class, a refund cannot be issued unless the space can be filled. If the space is able to be filled, a 50% refund of payment will be issued.
If you find you need to cancel out of a class you have registered for, you must drop the class via Reporter», our new online registration system
Cancellation requests will not be accepted at the main desk or via phone or email.
Absences
To receive an optimal experience and get the most out of the class, attendance is important as there are no provisions for make-up sessions for missed classes.
Wait Lists
Names are accepted on waiting lists via Reporter» after a class is full until the day the class begins. Wait lists are only valid for the current semester’s class – wait lists are not carried over to the next semester.
