Neal O’Briant

Functional Pottery

Artist Statement:

Neal O’Briant is a lifelong resident of Raleigh. He began making pots 27 years ago. He enjoys both throwing pots on the wheel and hand-forming them from slabs of clay. He likes to make useful pieces such as oven-safe pie plates and casseroles, flower vases, sturdy mugs that will keep your coffee or tea warm for a long time, and mixing bowls, salt pigs, spoon rests, and sponge holders for the kitchen. His figural salt pigs have become one of his signature pieces.
