Figurative Sculpture [Workshop]

This workshop is designed to introduce students to working within the format of the figure. Students will learn techniques for planning, building and finishing a small scale figure over the course of five class meetings. The emphasis will be on understanding anatomical proportions and creating emotion through the figure’s pose, gesture, and movement. Demonstrations will guide students through the process of constructing, shaping, hollowing, and refining their figurative sculptures. Work time on projects between class meetings is highly recommended. All pieces will be bisque fired after the workshop. Glaze firing is available for current clay studio members or students enrolled in a 6-week class. The class fee includes all project materials.
