Artist’s Books & Printed Matter

Explore the creation of original books in various methods and techniques. With the focus on traditional and non-traditional. We will also focus on how the book format has been used in history to convey information to the masses. Bookbinding techniques that will be covered include: Accordion, Stab Bound, single-page book, Zines, and perfect bound. You will learn the importance of creating a “Dummy” book, and proper gluing techniques using archival glues and boards. Use your own concepts to create your book formats with. You are encouraged to bring materials with you to put into book format such as photos, drawings, Xerox copies, etc.
