Handbuilding 1: Foundations of Clay

Handbuilding 1 is designed to teach you the fundamentals of handbuilding with clay and introduce you to working in our clay studio. You will learn basic skills including wedging, pinching, coiling, and slab construction. Glaze application techniques will be covered, and you will be able to explore the surface possibilities of our cone 10 reduction glaze palette. You will also learn how to safely use the slab roller and the extruder. Through a variety of projects and demonstrations, you will gain understanding in the ceramics process and be encouraged to express your own creativity. Practice time outside of class is strongly suggested to finish class projects. Completion of this class meets the qualification for you to purchase a Clay Studio membership.
