BASKET WEAVE PLATE IN FUSED GLASS [Workshop]

Use fusing glass and glass powder or fine frit to create a basket weave patterned plate. All supplies included.

BEYOND BASIC FLAT GLASS

Instructor: Deborah Rodgers
Push yourself to learn more about the art of stained glass! Explore advanced construction and soldering techniques to create a challenging 2D panel or a 3D project. The class fee covers use of studio tools and supplies such as flux, patina, and polishing compound. Students must purchase their own glass, solder, and foil.

GLASS BEAD MAKING WITH SHARDS

Instructor: Kathy Driggers

For intermediate to advanced level lampworkers – no beginners please. Spend two days learning to blow shards and make beads with those shards. You can use shards to make stand-alone focal beads or as a background for applied surface design. This is an intermediate to advanced level class.

GLASS IN THE GARDEN [Workshop]

Enhance your garden or large potted plant with a striking 16” x 5” rectangular garden stake made with the copper foil method of stained glass. Learn construction techniques using scrap pieces of stained glass, glass nuggets, zinc came, and brass rods, to create long lasting piece of indoor/outdoor art for yourself or someone else to enjoy!

GUIDED STUDIO: FUSED GLASS

Reactions in Fused GlassDo you have fused glass projects that you need to finish? Have an idea for a fused piece but don’t know where to start?  This is the perfect class for you. You will be able to work at your own pace with an instructor available for design ideas and technical help. Bring your partially finished projects or project ideas and the determination to finally do something with that idea. The Crafts Center will provide the space and equipment. Students are responsible for providing their own materials.

INTERMEDIATE GLASS KILN FUSING & FORMING [Workshop]

Instructor: Jean Cheely

Create four fused glass projects* using skills beyond basic beginner. Learn how to cut circles, curves, and shapes with a circle cutter and mosaic cutter; how to work with Glassline paints, frit, noodles and stringers; and use of fiber board. Class fee includes glass, Glassline paints, frit, noodles, stringers, and fiber board needed for class projects. Additional glass will be available for purchase.

*Note: class projects will be different from those in the Fall 2021 class.

INTRODUCTION TO GLASS FUSING AND SLUMPING

Intro to Glass Fusing & SlumpingAn introductory level class – no experience necessary. Learn the basics of fusing and forming glass in a kiln. Projects include making small plates, bowls, soap dishes, tiles and jewelry. Create designs with both transparent and opaque glass in a range of colors!  Class fee includes glass and use of tools to create class projects.

INTRODUCTION TO LAMPWORKING

Intro to LampworkingCome spend a weekend learning to make glass beads using a torch and rods of glass.  You will learn to make a variety of beads that can be used to make an item of jewelry or some decorative piece for your home. This class will teach you the basics in glass bead making such as dot placement, how to shape beads, how to encase a bead in transparent glass, and most importantly heat control of your glass. This is a beginner’s class, but even seasoned beads makers can learn from a review of the basics.

INTRODUCTION TO STAINED GLASS

Add some color to your world! Learn to cut, foil, and solder a 6″ x 14” stained glass panel using the copper foil method. Pattern will be provided by the instructor. The class fee includes glass and materials to make one panel. Attendance at the first two class sessions is mandatory. Please do not register for this class if you are unable to attend both of the first two evenings.

STAINED GLASS PICTURE FRAME [Workshop]

REACTIONS IN FUSED GLASS

Instructor: Danene Groenke

An intermediate to advanced level class. With the right glass chemistry, a thin colored line or “reaction” can occur when the glass is fused in a kiln. In this class, learn which COE96 colors react together, what reactions are possible with special glasses designed for reactions, and how to create reactions with metal inclusions. An additional supply fee of $20 payable to instructor will cover specialty glasses and metal inclusions.
