Considering the Concept
An intermediate level class- basic wheel throwing experience is necessary.
Considering the Concept is a class designed for students who are interested in learning how to approach their studio work from a more idea driven perspective. Discussions will center around idea development, research, and project planning. You will then generate a project idea to work towards during the class. This can be one piece or a series of pieces. Demonstrations will be planned to assist each person with techniques related to their project. This class is not specific to the wheel or to handbuilding and both ways of working are encouraged. You will be asked to push your understanding of the work you make in a supportive environment while challenging yourself to explore new ways of thinking about the material.
NOTE: Practice time outside of class is strongly suggested to finish class projects. Class fee includes one 25 lb. bag of clay. Locker rental is available for $10.00 and can be purchased on the first day of class.
