Custom Slumping Molds for Kilnformed Glass [Workshop]
Learn how to make your own ceramic slumping molds for your kilnformed glass creations! Commercial slumping molds can be basic and limiting for creativity. With the knowledge of how to make your own molds, you can further your creative process and take control of more aspects of your processes. Beginning in the clay studio, you’ll learn to roll slabs of clay and hand build unique forms, including discussion about “undercuts” and what makes a successful slumping mold. Next you will head on over to the glass studio to cut your sheet glass to fit your molds and decorate these pieces with stringers and frit. Once those are fused we will sand and kilnwash our bisqueware and slump our glass in our handmade molds!
