Weaving on a Floor Loom – Beginning Weaving
Learn to weave on the Crafts Center’s new Schacht Baby Wolf looms! You will first be introduced to reading a simple weaving draft. After discussing the interaction of weaving colors together, and planning out a scarf project, you will then select from various color choices and patterns to design your own scarf out of rayon and/or cotton. Learn to use a warping board to measure your project and how to dress the loom with the warp. Enough yarn will be provided to practice weaving mechanics and try out some different colors and patterns before weaving the scarf. If you have previously taken the Beginning Weaving on a Floor Loom class at the Craft Center, and want to continue learning, please come prepared with a project in mind and weave the equivalent of two scarves.
Everyone learns and works at a different pace. If you get behind between classes or are unable to fully complete your project during the class time allotted, the loom will be available for you to catch up or finish your project during the regular hours of the Crafts Center through the date listed for the specific class section listed below. However, it is imperative that students be able to attend the first three classes without absence to understand what happens in later classes.
Class fee includes materials and equipment for creating the class project and personal use of a loom for the time specified after the class ends.
